Responsibilities

  • Assisting with enhancements to business-area processes.

  • Collaborating with other in-house counsel and outside attorneys in pursuit of client goals and objectives.

  • Communicating with clients regarding current legal and regulatory issues and resolving outstanding debt settlements.

  • Managing direct reports and their subordinates.

  • Developing processes, workflow and training documentation specific to areas within scope of responsibility, and ensuring that direct reports and their subordinates receive appropriate training.

  • Pursuing collections in the legal channel on defaulted consumer receivables, consistent with company policies and applicable law.

  • Applying a strong understanding of applicable collections policies as well as federal and state regulatory issues. Ensuring compliance with state and federal laws, and adherence to court procedures and processes.

  • Working on special projects as required.

Requirements

  • Licensed to practice in the state of Florida and GA.

  • 5-7 years' experience as a front-line collection attorney and successfully managing collections of others.

  • Strong knowledge of the legal and regulatory framework affecting the debt buying and debt collection industries including: FDCPA, FCRA, GLBA and related state statutes.

  • Familiarity with collections software including Simplicity or similar systems.

  • Strong critical thinking and strategic skills.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Strong organizational skills, the ability to prioritize, and work in a rapidly changing environment.
