Responsibilities
Assisting with enhancements to business-area processes.
Collaborating with other in-house counsel and outside attorneys in pursuit of client goals and objectives.
Communicating with clients regarding current legal and regulatory issues and resolving outstanding debt settlements.
Managing direct reports and their subordinates.
Developing processes, workflow and training documentation specific to areas within scope of responsibility, and ensuring that direct reports and their subordinates receive appropriate training.
Pursuing collections in the legal channel on defaulted consumer receivables, consistent with company policies and applicable law.
Applying a strong understanding of applicable collections policies as well as federal and state regulatory issues. Ensuring compliance with state and federal laws, and adherence to court procedures and processes.
Working on special projects as required.
Requirements
Licensed to practice in the state of Florida and GA.
5-7 years' experience as a front-line collection attorney and successfully managing collections of others.
Strong knowledge of the legal and regulatory framework affecting the debt buying and debt collection industries including: FDCPA, FCRA, GLBA and related state statutes.
Familiarity with collections software including Simplicity or similar systems.
Strong critical thinking and strategic skills.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Strong organizational skills, the ability to prioritize, and work in a rapidly changing environment.
